French is the official written language for government and formal instruments, while Sango is essential for broad national interviewing. Local languages may be needed for specific communities outside Bangui and larger towns. Translation should include oral testing because many respondents engage more naturally in Sango or local languages than in written French.

Bangui holds a large share of urban population and administrative activity, with smaller centers such as Bimbo, Berberati and Bambari carrying regional weight. Much of the population is rural and dispersed across forest and savanna areas. National sampling needs security-informed cluster selection and rural substitution rules; targeted samples should define accessible prefectures upfront.

Mobile access exists but coverage and reliability vary outside towns, while online surveys are narrow and urban. Face-to-face fieldwork is strongly shaped by road conditions, rainy seasons and security access outside Bangui. Permissions from ministries, local authorities and humanitarian coordination structures may be needed. Data collection windows often require three to six weeks plus contingency.
