English is the official language and the main working language of government, research contracts and written questionnaires. National respondent coverage usually needs Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagbani and other languages by region. Translation should be interviewer-tested because many respondents code-switch, and back-translation should check market, health and public-service terms in each language.

Accra and Kumasi carry major urban and commercial weight, with Tamale, Sekondi-Takoradi and regional capitals important for coverage. Rural populations remain significant across cocoa, farming, coastal and northern savanna areas. National samples need region, urban-rural and language-zone strata; targeted studies can focus on Greater Accra, Ashanti, northern areas or specific corridors.

Mobile reach is high enough for phone surveys, while online surveys work best for urban, educated and smartphone-connected respondents. Face-to-face work must account for rainy seasons, festival calendars, market days and travel times across regions. Health, education and public-sector studies often require ethics or ministry approvals. Fieldwork commonly runs two to four weeks.
